Melanie Álvarez

Melanie is currently pursuing her legal studies at Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo (UEES). She has received a training certification in the United Nations model, in the role of presidential advisor. Her enthusiasm and proactivity are evident in every task and project she undertakes.

Practice Areas

From 2009 to 2012, Alvaro served as Regional Coordinator at the National Public Procurement Service, focusing on public-private procurement, public procurement of innovation, sustainability, and on transparency and anti-corruption issues. Since 2013, it founded the Legal Study «Lawyers and Counseling in Ecuador»providing legal advice and accompaniment both in the public and private spheres for 9 years. In recent years, it has focused on the implementation of initiatives to establish Public-Private Partnerships at the central government and regional governments level.

Currently, Alvaro heads the Department of Public Procurement and Public-Private Alliances of IURISRED, with a vision focused on innovation and sustainability. In recent years, it has specialized in innovative, sustainable public procurement and the development of investment projects and Public-Private Partnerships. He holds a Master's Degree in Administrative Law with mention in Public Procurement from the Holy Spirit University.

  • Attorney and Doctor in Jurisprudence from Central University of Ecuador.
  • Degree in Public and Social Sciences.
  • Holds a Master’s degree in Administrative Law with a specialization in Public Contracting from Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo.

Professional experience

  • He has worked in entities such as the National Procurement Service, the National Secretariat for Transparency in Management, the Ministry of National Defence, the Office of the Ombudsman and the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute.
  • He has worked at the International Nonviolent Peaceforce, serving as Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean until 2008.
  • From 2009 to 2012, he served as Regional Coordinator at the National Procurement Service.
  • Since 2013, it founded the Legal Study «Lawyers and Counseling in Ecuador».
  • Currently, he heads the Department of Public Procurement and Public-Private Alliances of IURISRED.
